What Happens in the Hills, stays in the Hills                                          By: Angela Keith

There just aren’t enough rednecks in Greenville.  Maybe there just aren’t enough places in Greenville to act like a redneck?  As wonderful as our town is with all the beautiful people (YES, I am talking about YOU!) and places to go, I still found myself in the hills of Ohio on the third weekend of July for the fourth year in a row.

If you like beer (I can hear you cheer!) and live music this is the 4-day paradise you have been looking for.  There is only one factor that determines who can attend Jamboree in the Hills…Can you make the Redneck Run?

Thousands of people have been packing up for Morristown, Ohio since 1977 for this spectacular event and all-star line-up.  With artists old and new and line-ups that seem too good to be true, Jamboree in the Hills has been compared to the “Fanfare” of Nashville.  In 2006 we saw artists such as: Montgomery Gentry, Poverty Neck Hillbillies, Little Big Town, Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Julie Roberts, Mark Chesnutt, Jason Aldean, Tracy Byrd, Sammy Kershaw, Clint Black, Neal McCoy, Sugarland, Carrie Underwood, Clay Walker, The Oak Ridge Boys, the Lost Trailers, Earl Thomas Conley, and many others.

Campgrounds surround the amphitheater for miles and miles.  Hotels are available and most offer shuttle service.  If I can be honest, you can’t really experience all Jamboree has to offer unless you stay in the campgrounds.  The nightlife is what makes this event memorable.  This year Keith Urban and band members ventured into the grounds after the show and entertained campers until the wee hours of the morning.  The musicians can’t even resist the energy and excitement that Jamboree fans have to offer.

The official Jamboree website can be accessed at www.jamboreeinthehills.com.  You can see line-ups from past years, purchase merchandise, get event information, and look at pictures fans have posted.  I will admit that with all the fun you will have pictures are a necessity.  First off, no one will believe the fun you had without them, and secondly, it helps refresh your memory after four days of intense fun, booze, and thousands of sexy bodies!

Jamboree in the Hills 2007 will take place from July 19-22, 2007.  See you in the Hills!
